Donor Privacy Policy & Financial Transparency Statement

1. Our Commitment to Donor Privacy

The Clan Campbell Society (North America), Inc. ("CCSNA") is committed to conducting its operations, member contributions, and financial stewardship with the highest degree of integrity, transparency, and accountability. This policy applies to all member and donor information collected online, offline, in person, or through third-party platforms.

2. Information Collection and Non-Selling Guarantee

  • 2.1 Non-Selling / Non-Sharing Promise: CCSNA will not sell, rent, trade, share, or lease donor or member personal information (including names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses) to any third party for commercial, political, or non-Society marketing purposes.
  • 2.2 Internal Use Only: Donor and contribution records are used strictly to process transactions, issue acknowledgments, maintain historical donor rolls, and communicate Society news or special fundraising initiatives directly related to our corporate mission.
  • 2.3 Third-Party Processors: Payments processed online are routed through secure, encrypted payment gateways. CCSNA does not store full credit card numbers or sensitive financial account details on its web servers.

3. Anonymous Gifts & Recognition

  • 3.1 Recognition: Unless otherwise requested, contributors supporting specific Society initiatives (e.g., Archives, Education, AGM Sponsorships, or Publication Funds) may be acknowledged by name in The Journal of the Clan Campbell Society (North America) or annual honor rolls.
  • 3.2 Right to Anonymity: Donors who wish for their contribution to remain anonymous may notify the Treasurer or IT/Governance Lead at governance@ccsna.org at the time of donation.

4. Federal Tax Status & Financial Disclosures

  • 4.1 Current Tax Status & Non-Deductibility Notice: CCSNA is currently incorporated as a non-profit organization operating as a federal tax-exempt social club under Section 501(c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code. Under current 501(c)(7) status, contributions, gifts, or membership dues paid to CCSNA are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
  • 4.2 Pending 501(c)(3) Reclassification: The Society is actively engaged in a corporate and governance restructuring to obtain status as a Section 501(c)(3) public educational and historical charity. Upon formal approval and receipt of an IRS Determination Letter, updated tax-deductibility disclosures will be published immediately.
  • 4.3 Public Inspection of Filings: In compliance with federal tax regulations, CCSNA makes its annual IRS Form 990 / 990-EZ informational returns available for public inspection. Members or members of the public may request copies of financial summaries by contacting:

Membership is open to all Campbells, Campbell septs, those married to a Campbell or Campbell Sept, those descended from Clan Campbell, and to those interested in learning about the Clan Campbell, Scottish history and culture, and who acknowledge Mac Cailein Mòr as their Clan Chief, as he is the Chief of Clan Campbell, the greatest family in all of Scotland! (We're a "wee bit" biased.)
