1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By accessing the Clan Campbell Society (North America) (CCSNA) website or applying for membership, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Policy, and the Society Bylaws.

2. 501(c)(3) COMPLIANCE & TRANSPARENCY

As a tax-exempt organization, the CCSNA operates exclusively for educational and social purposes.

  • Political Activity Ban: Users are strictly prohibited from using Society platforms to promote candidates for public office or engage in partisan lobbying.
  • Public Inspection: Our IRS Form 990 and Determination Letter are available for public inspection upon written request to the Society Secretary.
  • Fundraising Disclaimer: The CCSNA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Contributions are used to further our mission of Highland heritage education. Residents of certain states may obtain a copy of our financial report by contacting the Society Secretary or the respective state regulatory agency.

3. LICENSE AND ANTI-SCRAPING PROVISIONS

  • Personal Use Only: You are granted a limited license to use content for personal, non-commercial genealogical research.
  • Prohibited Automation: You may not use any "robot," "spider," "scraper," or other automated means to access the website for any purpose without our express written permission.
  • Data Harvesting: Systematic harvesting of member directories or DNA Project data is a material breach of these terms.

4. DMCA NOTICE AND TAKEDOWN PROCEDURE

The CCSNA respects intellectual property rights. If you believe your copyrighted work has been uploaded to our site without authorization, please notify our Designated Copyright Agent:

  • Requirements: Your notice must include a description of the work, the URL of the infringing material, and your contact information per 17 U.S.C. § 512(c).

5. CODE OF CONDUCT & GENEALOGY & DNA PROJECT ETHICS

  • DNA Privacy: Members may not publish the genetic data or specific kit results of other Campbell DNA Project participants without explicit, written consent.
  • Genealogical Integrity: Lineage data is provided "as is." The Society is not liable for genealogical errors or historical inaccuracies.

6. MEMBERSHIP, DUES & TERMINATION

  • Payments: Dues must be paid in U.S. Dollars and are non-refundable.
  • Termination: The Board of Trustees may terminate membership for "Conduct Unbecoming," including violations of these Terms or the Society Bylaws. Members will be given 15 days to respond to a notice of termination.

7. GOVERNING LAW AND VENUE

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Delaware.

Membership is open to all Campbells, Campbell septs, those married to a Campbell or Campbell Sept, those descended from Clan Campbell, and to those interested in learning about the Clan Campbell, Scottish history and culture, and who acknowledge Mac Cailein Mòr as their Clan Chief, as he is the Chief of Clan Campbell, the greatest family in all of Scotland! (We're a "wee bit" biased.)
