
Innis Chonnel Castle is on an island in Loch Awe. It was the first of the
Campbell Castles, and is now a ruin.

Inveraray Castle is in Inveraray, Argyll, on Loch Fyne. It is where our
Chief, the Duke of Argyll, and his wife, the Duchess, live.

Loudoun Castle was the home of the Campbells of Loudoun, the first of the
three younger houses of Clan Campbell. It is in Ayrshire, not too far away
from Glasgow, the biggest city in Scotland. Loudoun Castle burned during
World War II, and was not restored. |
Kilchurn Castle was the first castle of the Campbells of Breadalbane, also
called the Campbells of Glen Orchy. It was built on an island at the northern
end of Loch Awe, but the water is now lower, and the castle is connected
to the shore by a narrow piece of land.

Cawdor Castle is the home of the Earl Cawdor, the head of the Campbells
of Cawdor. The castle has been kept very much the way it was when it was
first built. It is known for its beautiful gardens. It is in Nairn, a short
distance from the city called the "Capitol of the Highlands," Inverness.

Castle Campbell was the eastern home of the Earls of Argyll; they lived
here when they visited the lowlands. The Castle is a short distance from
the town of Dollar. The castle is a ruin. You can visit the castle during
the summer months; there is a charge to go inside. |
