My father's family came to Canada from Scotland in early 1800's and we just got some information on how some family members had helped build Inverary, and others had been born at Castle Sween. Look forward to exploring the site more as I learn more about my family and clan.

Our family joined the CCS yesterday at the Highland Festival in Alma MI. Our connection to the clan is through my Great Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Thompson, who was actually "born on the boat" during the trip over from the Bitish Isles to Quebec, Canada. I also have ancestors who were Turnbulls, but the gentleman at the Campbell booth said i should go with the Campbell clan instead of the Turnbulls, because the Campbells are generally so good looking.

I enjoyed looking through the site. I've been attending the games in Pleasanton for the past couple of years and have always visited my clan booth. I don't know the particulars, but my paternal grandmother is a Campbell. Her father, Deveret Campbell was a policeman in Oakland California back in the late 20's - early 30's. I'm thinking of joining the Clan Campbell Society next time I go to the games in Pleasanton. See you there!

For a long time my grandmother has encouraged me to find out more about who I am and what it means to be a Campbell. My mother was a Campbell before she married my father, so I have Campbell relations coming at me from both sides. This is my first visit to this site, and it won't be my last. I've got lots of reading to do, and I'm sure it will have me coming back looking for more.

I have just recently started to trace my family tree. My father's mother was Margaret Campbell, b. 1892 in Evansville, Manitoulin Island, Canada. Her father, Robert John (RJ) Campbell b. Sept. 9, 1859 in Hanover, Ontario, his father, Colin Campbell b. Oct. 31, 1832 in Leurery, Scotland, and his father, Donald Campbell b. June 26, 1808 in Forsie, Caithness, Scotland and lastly, his father was Thomas Campbell who married Christian MacDonald in Forsie Caithness, Scotland - dates unknown. I am very excited about finding this wonderful page and the Clan Campbell Society. If anyone has information that may help me in my search, it would be greatly appreciated. I was very pleased to find this web site and I must say, I did not know that the Campbell clan was this popular. I am very proud of my heritage and it greatly pleases me to see that there are many others who feel as I do about our clan. My father, Glenn Calvin Campbell the 3rd, raised me and taught me of my heritage and upbringings. I have always wanted to visit Scotland. Perhaps someday I will. I only know that the hills are green and the sky is blue and pride is seen in the eyes as well as the heart. I have always seen pictures of Scotland and I can see myself there by the ocean. I want to share something with all of you. My dying wish is that when I have gone to the greater glory above, my body is to be burned and I wish for ashes to be thrown into the sea by Scotlands green shores. When you hear of this, you will remember this and hopefully you will come to the service. To anyone who has taken the time to read this, I thank you for listening to a girls dreams of traveling to her home in her heart. I am proud of who i am and who I will always be.

My father was Frank Campbell. His great grandfather, John Campbell, came over from Scotland in about 1865. John lived in Brooklyn, NY, and was married to Harriet Thomas who was English. I remember my dad singing Scottish songs when I was a child - he also had a long-play record of bagpipe music.

My maternal grandmother was Margaret Ruth Burns. Most of the Burns family to which I am related are located in Georgia. 2 years ago we had a reunion at Hebron Presbyterian Church for the 200 year anniversary of the chuch founding. Many relatives buried there. First of our family came to America in 1747 or so, William Burns married to Margaret Mitchell, Uncle (?) of Robbie Burns.

I am anxious to further my search for my link to the Campbell line. I know I am related to Colin Campbell, a public official of Greenoch during the middle 1800's and that my side of the family was settled initially in Southern New England, primarily Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts. Please drop me a line if you have any information pertaining to my quest: who knows, we might be related! I'll leave it up to you to decide whether that's a blessing or a curse.

My grandfather has told me many things about my middle name and about how the name came about. My grandfather has been in the hospital for a week now on what should've been an out patient surgery. I looked up this web-site to show him when I go and visit him today. I fear for his life. He is approx. 80% Scottish and has deep roots. I look to him as my role-model. He always has Scottish stories(factual, of course) that he tells me. I'm proud to bear the Campbell name and hope to carry it to my children and their grandchildren.
