I am trying to research my family history. My grandmother was Annette Campbell. Her sister was Regina Campbell. They are descendants of the Allen family ie. Thomas, Anna, Kate. The Allens are buried in Calvery Cem. in Brooklyn, NY along with Regina Campbell. I need help in tracing the Campbells as well as the Allens.

I am a 3rd generation Scot, who is trying to verify clan/sept information about my family. My Great-Grandfather was born in Scotland in the early -1800's - James MacConnaughey - and changed his name when the family came to America to McConnaughy. The only relative I have that can verify this is my father - Miles Garnett McConnaughy, Jr. - son of Miles Garnet McConnaughy, Sr. - eldest son of James MacConnaughey. My Grandfather was born eldest of four sons on 14 Jul 1887 in Justice, OH. James MacConnaughey died in Ohio sometime in 1947 or 1948, but the records were destroyed in a fire. If anyone can help me veryify which clan my family belongs to, I would be eternally grateful. I have six brothers and sisters who would love to know this side of our heritage.

I am a 25 year old Campbell searching for information about my heritage. My grandmother has traced my lineage back seven generations, which is around the mid 1700s. I am planning to visit Scotland on a pilgrimage in the next couple of years. As well as starting to help my grandmother research our family line. Any info on when and where to go, while i am in scotland. would be greatly appreciated. I will be in Edinburgh for two days in April 1999 but wont make it to the Highland area... If anyone knows of "campbell" things to see or do in Edinburgh i would love to hear from them. Thank you, wes

i am a strange mix. both my mom, she was irish and english but born in blantyre scotland and came to america from there. my dad was scottish on both sides of his family and he was born in glasgow but lived until 23yrs. in gourock, scotland. he was mcswan, mcdonald on his father's side and campbell, sinclair on his mother's side. so you see i'm a rather conflicted scot.

I am investigating my family tree and have gotten back to my 3rd greatgrandfather Andrew Campbell,(b.1818,d.10/2/1894) of somewhere in Scotland. He immigrated to County Antrim, Northern Island and then the USA, when I don't know. He married Ellen (unknown maiden name) my 3rd greatgrandmother and had 7 children. After she died in 1878, he remarried Ellen Brownlee and had 3 more sons. My 2nd greatgrandfather's name was also Andrew Campbell (b.2/9/1847, d.7/1917) and he resided in Leyden, Massachusetts. Greatgrandfather was Henry Andrew Campbell (b.3/19/1870,d.4/16/1939),of Greenfield, Massachusetts. My Grandfather was Richard Henry Campbell (b. 1/29/1904, d.12/1982,) also of Greenfield, Massachusetts. My father is Robert Richard Campbell (b.6/11/26) of Montague, Massachusetts. I need all the help I can get with doing overseaas research. THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL SITE!

Have visited your site once before but second time around found much more. T'is a great site to visit and will be back. I am still trying to get information on some of my ancestory namely Jean/Jane Campbell who married Lachland McKinnon in Inverness Shire, Isle of Skye. Their children James, John (who went to America), Donald, Jane, Katherine, Margaret, Peggy, John (2) and Lachlan. All these children were born in Sleat, Inverness Shire, Isle of Skye. I have got nothing on Jane Campbell and was hoping that seeing as there are so many Campbell's there just may be someone out there who can help me. I'm proud to carry the "CAMPBELL" name. Great site for all who care about their ancestors and a source of information for everyone. In regards to the message left by George Farquhar MacDonnell on Friday 19,1999@ 1929hrs (PST) about the "Campbells" being "traitors" and "lowlanders" I have a few words to express: The events you must be referring to occured over three hundred years ago and I don't believe that either of us were there. We are "ALL" still Scots and cherish our homeland whatever our family name. With "CAMPBELL" pride and vigor I say to you, "Get a life". CRUACHAN !

I will be visiting Scotland in May to trace my roots, along with my husband,(Ross Shearer) son (Allan) and daughter-in-law (Linda). My dad is John Eadie Campbell(born Sept. 12, 1919), son of John Eadie Campbell Sr. (iron molder) from Larbert, Stirlingshire. The latter married Mary Baxter Mochrie and produced 4 children, John Eadie, Jean, Ella and 1 was stillborn. John Eadie Campbell Sr. had a brother Tom Campbell (iron molder) from Larbert too, (married to Meg or Maggie); and sisters Jessie and Vi and Meg and Jean. John Eadie Campbell, Sr. and his brother Tom both lost an eye working in the Larbert iron-molding business. John Eadie Campbell Sr. died as a result, after a stay in an infirmary or mental hospital (date of death 1931). His wife, Mary Baxter Mochrie Campbell owned a confectionery/tobacco store where she sold potted hough, at the corner of Larbert Cross. Jack, my dad, delivered this to people's homes when he was a young lad. It was the biggest seller in their store (where they sold chocolates, candy, tobacco). Mary Mochrie Campbell had a mental breakdown when her husband died, and was placed in a mental home. She was a beautiful pianist and loved flowers. She died at age 86. Her store was later run by her my dad's aunt, Miss Jean Campbell and by his sister Jean. Jean Campbell was married around the age of 40 to Neil Naismith and they lived in Falkirk. Ella Campbell married Aubrey Vernall and she worked at the Kew Hotel on Kew Terrace (not sure if it was Falkirk or Glasgow). John Eadie Campbell Jr. spent time in the Church of Scotland Boys' Home, Glasgow where he met a friend, Eddie Bygroves. This friend was my mother's brother. Her name was Violet Bygroves. They married in Glasgow, December 29, 1941 and they emigrated in 1946 to Canada on The Aquatania (Cunard) with 2 children, Connie Campbell (me) and Joyce Margaret Campbell, then had another child Wendy Jean Campbell. Tom Campbell married and had sons Tommy, Roy (now London, England), Willie (Carron Shore, near Larbert). Aubrey and Ella Vernall are deceased. Neil and Jean Naismith are deceased. I, Connie Campbell Shearer, married John Ross Shearer (people from Greenoch originally) in Canada, and we have 3 sons, Bryan Stuart, Randall Craig, Allan Bruce. Joyce now lives in Ireland and is Mrs. William Appleby (he is from Toronto, Canada). Wendy Jean married Earle Root from Brockville, On. Canada and they have 2 children, Lauren and Trevor. Hope this is of interest to someone. You have a very interesting line of work. If you need any more info. or have any info. that would interest us, please write any time. Thank You, Constance Mary Campbell Shearer

Ok ok ok, as I said before, some of us are really slow. I deleted from my mail, than realized that it was perhaps in response to my earlier entry. The only excuse I can offer, is that I recently had surgery and am on medications.

Ahhh, some of us are a 'wee' bit slow at times. Have just found this site, and am looking forward to exploring this side of the tree. My name is Ann Bathgate, my dad is Robert Bragdon, his mom was Mabel Blair, who was out of the Campbells.
