I am a descendent of Robert McDermid who came to the Americas in the late 1700s or very early 1800s. I attended the Gathering in Halifax in the ealy 1980s. I attended the Campbell gathering, where I was told that we are a true sept and have the right to wear the Campbell of Breadalbane tartan.

My grandfather was born in central Ireland in the mid-late 1800's. He came to the U.S. as a young boy entering the country at Boston. His father's name was Patrick. That is really all that I know though would like to find out more about my ancestors. I presume that they were originally from Scotland.

Hello fellow Scots! My name is Jonna Coulter. In attempting to locate a Coulter Clan, tartan, etc., it appears I have found information that some Coulters were affiliated with the Campbell Clan and hence adopted their tartan. Does anyone have any information on this? After finding out that I'm of Scottish descent I do so want to have a tartan and all the other wonderful things associated with the heraldry!

I've known for some time that my grandfather's family were originally from Scotland. After reading the Clan Campbell Society WEB page information, I have a far better understanding of the Clan Campbell's importance in Scotland's history. I hope to give give both my mother and grandmother a history lesson from the information I've read today. Oh, by the way, my grandfathers' name was Page Duncan Campbell, Sr., born and raised in Virginia. Thanks again for the valuable information, David Burner

Great Page. I loved reading through what everyone else had left. I have been planning a trip to Scotland and Ireland for this coming summer and would like to find out more about my family's heritage before going. I know as far as my grandfather, Cecil Campbell, who lived in Egeland, North Dakota. That's about it. Kind of sad, but since he's already passed it makes it difficult to find out more information. I hope that someone is reading this and would have some information.

My first time online and was thrilled to find this site. Would leave our E-Mail address but I can't remember what it is. I'm very computer illiterate! My mother was born Margaret Ann Campbell. She never knew anything about her father as her parents were married only 1 month. His name was/is either Wakefield Michael Campbell or Wayne Campbell (or some form of the two). She knows that he was a 1st Leut. in the army in 1944/45 in TX. She has enlisted my help to find out more as I have been researching my family histories for some time now. I never knew there were so many Campbells out there.

Great location to find Campbell history. I am trying to find additional information regarding the Campbells who migrated to the USA from County Down Ireland. My great-great-great grandfather, James Campbell migrated to South Fayette Township, Allegheny County PA in 1848 along with many members of the Wallace family. James Campbell was born in 1799 in the village of Dromara, County Down Ireland (I think). If you know of where in Scotland these Campbells origninated, I would appreciate your help. Thanks

Hello! My name is Jeff Renaud (not exactly Scottish, I know), but my great-great-great-great (I think) grandfather was Ebenezer Thomson (correct sp), who died in Paisley, Scotland -- I have the date, somewhere, if that would help. My question is this: I heard that the Thomson clan was (is) part of the Campbell clan; is this so? Any information anyone could send me would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a keen interest in the Campbells as in doing research into my family tree I find that the majority of my family came from around Campbeltown from at least 1749 - 1900. In fact one of my ancestors was born as Richard Campbell 29th March 1840, Ref OPRb/Saddell & Skipness 531/2/p20. even though he was the lawful son of William Clegg and Ann Hamilton. I provide this information in the hope that someone may know why (long shot) or someone may provide more details on the family tree. I have also used other pages by the Clan Campbell Society eg. Sites to see in Argyll as I am visiting Scotland in May 1997. I find the web sites very informative.
