I have a joke all Scots should enjoy...
A recent Scottish immigrant attends his first baseball game
in his new country and after a base hit he hears the fans
roaring run...run! The next batter connects heavily with
the ball and the Scotsman stands up and roars with the crowd
in his thick accent: "R-r-run ya bahstard, r-run will ya!"
A third batter slams a hit and again the Scotsman, obviously
pleased with his knowledge of the game, scream "R-r-run ya
bahstard,r-r-run will ya!" The next batter held his swing at
three and two and as the ump calls a walk the Scotsman stood
up yelling "R-r-run ya bahstard, r-r-run!" All the
surrounding fans giggle quietly and he sat down confused.
A friendly fan, sensing his embarassment whispers to him,
"He doesn't have to run; he's got four balls."
After this explaination the Scotsman stands up in disbelief
and screams, "Walk with pr-r-ride man!"

Thankyou, very informative. Having married into the Clan Campbell, I am eager to pass such interesting information on to my young Campbells. I am keen to know about the arrival of Campbells in Australia. I believe there was at least one Campbell on the first fleet of convicts to arrive in Australia in 1788. Can anyone assist me with more info.

I am a seventh generation descendent of John and Ann Christy Campbell who came to America in the early part of the 18th century and settled in Polk Run, Westmoreland County, PA. I am interested in finding out more about them and their life in Scotland before they immigrated to America.

I am doing some family reseach and have the Campbell name in my background. These Campbells went to South Africa. I am also new to the internet and am finding many possibilities to further my research.

I have been tracing my Campbell roots. I have gone back to John Mallory Campbell in the late 1700's to early 1800's. His wife was Isabelle Kolb. A family member told me her aunt had traced our family back to the Duke of Argyle. I have not seen the records however. My great great grandfather was Archibald Baldwin Campbell who later lived in North Carolina, then Florida where he raised his family.
Looking forward to hearing from those who may know this family.
Thanks,

I'm glad I found this site. More and more I'm becoming interested in the background and history of my name and
tracing its lineage. For me, it begins in the Maritimes mostly in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

I have two family branches (a great-uncle and gg-uncle) that married Campbells. I'm hoping that someone knows something about my Braden and Critton families. John Wesley Braden m. Amanda Campbell. John's father was Andrew Braden. Samuel Critton m. Ellen Campbell and had three daughters that I know of. My g-grandparents, Jesse Critton & Rue Alfter, raised the youngest for a short period of time after Ellen died. Two of these daughters married Archers. I have some Campbell info in my search for Braden and Critton. Willing to share what I have. Thanks, Dianna
